MEDICINAL PLANTS

The cinoglosa is a herbaceous plant belonging to the family Boraginaceae. It is provided arranged in a basal rosette leaves of that-the second year-emerge the stem about three feet tall. In the seeds is an alkaloid called cinoglosina and glycoalkaloids, the consolidina. The main virtue of this herb is to be astringent. In any case, should be used cautiously because of the narcotic effects that may occur at high doses. In homeopathic medicine is indicated for insomnia.

ADMINISTRATION

Decoction. Boil for five minutes 5 g. Root in 1 / 2 l. Of water, strain the liquid and let it temper. Is applied as compresses over the cracks outside of the mouth and nipples, with excellent results.
Fresh leaves. Fresh leaves crushed with their juice, are applied to ulcers or wounds on a pad of cotton or gauze. The dressing should be renewed twice daily.
